El Pasoan foresaw 9/11 helped solved child's killing. By Diana Washington Valdez El Paso Times Robert McKnight's premonition about the September 11th, 2001 terrorist attacks came to him in part during a conversation with a friend and later in dream. Days before the attack, the retired Navy Lieutenant Commander rushed to tell the crew at the radio station where he gives readings and makes predictions the full scope of his intuitive warning. "he came in early that day the Thursday before the attack, all broke out in a sweat, and told us that something was going down in New York, like two planes crashing into each other or into a building" said Lucy Galnares, program director at the radio station La Caliente (93.9-FM) on the West Side. "He didn't know if it was an accident or a terrorist attack and that there was going to be a lot of deaths. "I was very skeptical and we did not let him speak on air. After it happened, I was totally freaked out, and I was frightened to have Robert back on the program and I still get goose bumps thinking about it." McKnight said his ability to know things outside the realm of logic began shortly after he was involved in a serious car accident as an adolescent. " Then I studied it more seriously when I was around 21 and in college, and what did it for me was reading the Bhagavd Gita ( a sacred Hindu text). It put me in tune with myself and with the universe. I also studied Carl Jungs's work on the collective subconsciousness." Galnares also confirms that McKnight provided critical information about the 2001 Alexandra Flores case after one of the relatives called him at the station to ask for his help. The body of the 5-year old Alexandra, who was brutally murdered was found near St. Patrick's Cathedral. McKnight, who considers himself a clairvoyant , said he cant' discuss any of the details due to the sensitive nature of the case. His ability can best be descirbed as a combination of what viewers may see on the two crime-solving TV shows "Medium" (on NBC) and " Numbers" (on CBS). "Numbers are my bread and butter for what I do. Numerology is based on the binary numbers system 0 to 1, which is the same system used by computers," he said, "I also listen to a person's voice, I do handwriting analysis, some palmistry and as a last and as a last resort, I use tarot cards . Former El Paso City Rep. Jan Sumrall, who appointed McKnight to the El Paso Culture Advisory Board, states: "He is the real thing. It got to be standard procedure to call Bob whever you need help in finding something that was lost," Sumrall said. " He helped ( a former mayor's) secretary find some keys once." Orlando Fonseca said thathis mother's first name, Aida, came up in a conerstion with McKnight which triggered a flash in the in the clairvoyant. McKnight got an impression later about Alaksa, combined it with Aida, and came up the " Al Quaida" in relation to the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks. Not everyone believes or encourages his sixth sense, McKnight said. |
